Description
DWIN Reversal, inspired by Larry Williams’ %R, is not just another oscillator that swings up and down like the usual ones. It shows where the current price is within the most recent range that you can define.
While other oscillators answer you the questions like “How strong is momentum?” (like RSI), or “How far could the move extend?” (like MACD), DWIN Reversal answers another practical one:
“Is price reaching near the top or standing close to the bottom of a defined period?”
How DWIN Reversal works
1. Reversed scale (-100 → 0)
While most momentum indicators (RSI, Stochastic,…) typically move within a 0 – 100 scale (or around 0), DWIN Reversal flips the axis: it runs from -100 up to 0.
This follows Larry Williams’ original idea behind %R:
- The %R was designed to show whether price is near the top or bottom of its recent range – often the points where crowd emotions are at extremes and reversals may occur.
By redefining the scale to -100 to 0, DWIN Reversal makes these extremes stand out clearly, warning of the dangerous moments and signaling a chance of reversal.
2. Simple but effective logic
DWIN Reversal is not “smoothed”, not complicated, but directly compares the current closing price within the range that you define:
- Near 0 = extremely optimistic market → risk of profit taking or reversal.
- Near -100 = extremely pessimistic market → recovery opportunity may appear.
At a glance, you’ll see where the current price sits within the range, reducing the FOMO of buying at tops or selling at bottoms.
3. Clearer risk alerts
Rather than forcing you to interpret momentum and guess whether price will continue or reverse, DWIN Reversal provides a direct guide:
- When its %R plot pushes into the Upper Threshold, look for sell setups – price is approaching a top in a range.
- When the %R plot dives into the Lower Threshold, look for buy setups – price is approaching a bottom in a range.
It gives you a clearer, more consistent perspective on momentum, reducing the hesitation that often comes with using other momentum indicators. Try it out today!
